If you like very adult oriented insult comedy The Comedy Network Presents the Roast of Flavor Flav is a lot of outrageous fun. If you do not know who Flavor Flav is consider it a good sign you have not been wasting your life. You can waste part of it Tuesday May 12th 2009 at 10 P.M. on The Comedy Network

A Flavor Flav is a hasbeen who looks and sounds like a clock in an Italian bordello. He was also the second banana of Public Enemy and is now reality television show famous (talk about a career down the drain). The latest claim to fame for Flavor Flav is a reality show with Brigitte Nielsen -i.e. scraping the underneath of the rustiest death-headed barrel in the landfill.

It says a lot about what a mark Flavor Flav has left on the entertainment business that most of the stand-up comics (Patton Oswalt, host Katt Williams, Lisa Lampanelli, Greg Giraldo, and whatever-happened-to Carrot top) spend more time insulting each other than the target in the Comedy Network Presents roast of Flavor Flav.

The best roaster is Greg Kinnear. Kinnear also gets the most moans from the audience with a reference to Chris Benoit's kids (made before Benoit's roid rage) and James Brown' coffin. Law and Order's Ice T has some excellent slams and has the brains to keep it short and sweet. Jeff Ross is a bit of a waste of time but at least he delivers his lines better than Carrot Top whose gadgets make up for his reading his lines as if he had never seen them before.

Brigitte Neilsen is the obligatory no talent can't deliver a joke guest. If you have not seen any of Flavor Flav's reality shows, you are not going to get anything she says. Patton Oswalt follows and the Comedy Network Presents the Roast of Flavor Flav picks up. You got to give it to Oswalt for doing an H.G. Wells joke for that crowd.

Snoop Dog, or whatever he called himself that week, looks like a black Anne of Green Gables dressed in a curtain, does pretty well, and brings the old 8-track joke into the cassette age. Lisa Lampanelli, the queen of mean, is in fine form and slams everybody better than anyone else on stage that night.

Although the Flavor Flav roast on the Comedy Network is very enjoyable adult oriented fun, you really want to skip last minute or so of the show where Flav gets to the mic and gets to speak. Bad, bad idea.
