Just For Laughs Montreal Comedy Festival
July 12th to 18th
Other shows start July 6th
See Just For Laughs website for details

The good news about the Just For Laughs Montreal Comedy Festival is it features Christopher Titus, an already sold out John Pinette, and there is no, nada, not a one shows at the dreadful Kola Note or whatever it is called now. The bad news and if you ask me the DUUUUUUUUUUUUH decision of the festival's history is they killed Laugh-ro-disiacs, the relationship show.

The nice folks at Just For Laughs will counter they now have The Relationship Gala hosted by Brad Garret with Tom Papa, Maryellen Hooper, Finesse Mitchell and a couple of others. A gala is one night only and made for network TV consumption so everybody is on their best behavior. Historically, the relationship comedy show was a sold-out three or four nights gig at the best JFL venue, the Club Soda and people could have a beer.

Just For Laugh's main run is July 12th to 18th. The Nasty Show again runs the week before, June 6th  to 11th at 7 and 9 at the Club Soda. More restricted palates how have an alternative with Mom's the Word 2 Unhinged which runs July 6th to 18th at the Centaur Theatre at 8 with weekend shows at 5.

The Nasty Show will be hosted by Greg Giraldo and feature the very adult Jim Norton, both of Comedy Central Roasts fame. Other comics like Robert Kelly, Tiffany Haddish, Brian Keith Etheridge will also push the envelope and offend.

The safest and best bet at Just For Laughs year in, year out is Bubbling With Laughter which is at the well-managed Club Soda July 12th to 17 with most shows at 7 and some at 9:30. The host this year is Tom Papa, a great choice for a show like this. Artists are not announced but you usually get 6 other comics.

I am again going to Nasty Girls which is one night only, July 17th at 7 and 9:30 at the Metropolis (another very good venue). The show will be hosted by Whitney Cummings. Other stand-up comics have not been announced.

Other shows in the 2010 Just For Laughs Montreal Comedy Festival include the Alternative Comedy Show hosted by Andy Kindler, Best of Montreal Fringe, and Best of the Fest which is the best bang for your comedy dollar on the planet.

There really is something for everyone with shows like Uptown Comics (Black comics), Britcom, O'Comics, and Down Under (New Zealand and Awe-strah-la), and the Ethnic Show Check the Just For Laughs listings for details.

I can't believe I actually bought tickets for Britcom this year after swearing off the experience a few years ago after a show where you could hear the air conditioning turn on and off. Historically, Uptown Comics is an excellent bet but a midnight show is a bit much if you ask me.

There is much, much more going on at Just For Laughs Montreal Comedy Festival, check out their site or stay here for more details.
