The Other Guys is a good movie for the first five or six minutes. Then the real story begins and it sucks even more than the Detroit Lions or Toronto Maple Leafs. If there is a funny moment in this comedy Blu-ray past the opening sequence it is hiding somewhere in the deleted scenes that are not included in the deleted scenes special features. To think The Other Guys comes in an extended version in addition to the original version.
This failed comedy stars Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg as two low-profile cops who see an opportunity to become stars when the department's two supercops (Samuel L. Jackson and Dwayne Johnson have an accident after leaping off a tall building. Plays a forensic accountant cop named Allan. His partner Terry (Wahlberg) is best known for shooting Derek Jeeter and costing the Yankees the World Series.
Stuff happens and Allan and Terry are sort of after a financial crook up to no good (played by Steve Coogan). Meanwhile they must live with the insults of their colleagues who are also busy trying to be the city's next supercops.
The idea behind The Other Guys is probably to make a movie making fun of car chases and explosions action heavy cop movies and comedies. The premise is interesting but neither Ferrell nor Walhberg create interesting characters. They have less on-screen chemistry than wet sand.
There are probably a funny enough moment in this comedy Blu-ray DVD combo but you'll have to pay real real real close attention to find it
