International stand-up comedy star Russell Peters hosts an old-fashioned Christmas Special with A Russell Peters Christmas. It airs December 1st at 9 p.m. on CTV and December 10th at 10 p.m. on The Comedy Network. CTV will also have the Canadian premiere of The Green Card Tour Live From the O2 Arena on December 3rd at 10 p.m.

Russell Peters opens his Christmas special with stand-up where he mentions the all-white specials when he was growing up. He has kept the recipe but added, as he puts it, color. It makes for an entertaining show even if Peters is an even worse actor than Jon Lovitz.

The show opens with a musical number and guests that just happen to drop by like lingerie models, Michael Buble, Faizon Love, Jon Lovitz, Scott Thompson, singer Goapele, and Ted Lange of Love Boat fame. A Russell Peters Christmas also features Christmas songs and a couple of comedy sketches.

The most interesting bit is Russell Saves Christmas, a fun tip of the hat to the Rankin/Bass Rudolph claymation specials.

The oddest moment in this Xmas special is the skit where Pamela Anderson plays the Virgin Mary in a nativity scene with three Weissmans.

A Russell Peters Christmas is quite enjoyable.
