Drunk History is a truly bizarre and entertaining show. The idea is a drunk B-list comic actor (Matt Gourley, Adam Scott, Eric Edelstein) tells the story of an important moment in history. The premiere episode of new Drunk History series airs Tuesday July 9th at 10 on The Comedy Network and has the stories of Watergate and Bob Woodward, John Wilkes Booth and the Lincoln assassination, and of when Elvis met Nixon.
The drunk actor telling the story also sometimes plays the lead so Matt Gourley plays Bob Woodward to Fred Willard's Deep Throat and Adam Scott plays Booth. It is however Jack Black who gets to play the King in a story told by Eric Edelstein.
Part of the fun is the actors lipsync to the voice of the storyteller, burps and all. Part of the fun is history itself. Most of the fun is how silly this all is.
If the show Drunk History sounds familiar, it is because it was also produced in 2007, 2008, and 2010 with some of the same suspects in various roles.
