Well, it seems there is an end to the Blue Collar comedy magic. So far, everything associated with Jeff Foxworthy, Ron White, Bill Engvall, and Larry the Cable Guy, has seemed blessed to some degree by the gods of comedy. Then comes The Ron White Show and you know someone really pissed-off said gods: what else could explain such a complete disaster.
The Ron White Show wants to be an old-time variety show complete with showgirls and band. Perhaps this is why White seemed to be wearing a wig from the Phyllis Diller collection on the first show. Then again, it is hard to understand why they bothered filming this in a Las Vegas nightclub since all the comedian does is introduce pre-recorded and not even comic skits. The bit about finding showgirls for his set was not bad but you knew things were already going downhill then the Ron White Cartoon was his stand-up routine about Naked Eating Cheetos (enough already, let it rest in peace!).
Then came Dave Attell, a guy who overacts even when he is overacting. This lead to a hokey Dr. Phil bit that was as useless as the doctor's usual advice. The host then stands at the bar to introduce yet another filmed bit about him being best man at some poor couple's Vegas wedding while the people in the audience you can see in the background look more like deer caught in the headlights than willing participants in a TV show. Thankfully, that was the end of that show.
This mess might be around for a while, sandwiched as it is between Blue Collar TV and Mobile Home Disaster with Bill Engvall on something the WB calls the Blue Collar Event. Oh well, there's got to be a rerun of something else somewhere.
