Look up on the shelf.

It's a book.

It's a brick.

It's Lois And Clark: The Complete Season One.

This is a super collection. There are not enough superlatives for fans of Lois And Clark to use when they get their hands on this collection. Everything a fan remembers is there from the dashing Dean Cain as Clark Kent to the oh so delectable Terry Hatcher as Lois Lane. Tracy Scoggins vamps it up to the Nth degree and the greatest Lex Luthor ever to grace the screen (even better than Hackman) is present in the form of character actor.

Lois And Clark was a sensation when it hit the air in 1993 and rocketed Dean Cain (currently on Las Vegas on NBC) and Terry Hatcher (Desperate Housewives) to fame. Clark Kent is Superman and Superman has a sense of humor as well as a sense of style. The humor in this series is best shown in an exchange between Clark and his father when Clark has finally chosen his costume from the myriad of costumes his mother makes for him. His father points out that everyone will realize that he is just Clark Kent in a costume. Clark say "No dad because I will be in disguise." Then he takes off his glasses, puts them on again and takes them off - demonstrating the disguise. Dad gives the boy a skeptical look and goes back to watching the T.V.

The great thing about Lois & Clark is that it remained true to the legend of Superman while still adding a fresh look, feel and perspective to Superman. Some Superman purists will have problems with things like hair styles and the harder and more confident portrayal of Clark Kent that Cain brings to the roll. Superman has been through so many incarnations and variations by now that taking issue with little things like that is mostly in the purview of the truly stunted. Warner Brothers has put together the perfect gift for Lois & Clark fans and Superman fans alike. It is simply the first complete season on DVD. Just pop the DVD's into the player sit back and watch. There's not a whole lot in the way of extras in this collection there is Commentary on Pilot episode a retrospective documentary called "From Rivals to Romance and a featurette: Taking Flight: The Visual Effects of Lois & Clark.
