Jeffrey Gurian is a comedy multi tasker. In addition to helping roast France's own Jerry Lewis -and I still say it must have taken a huge frying pan, he is the east coast producer of National Lampoon Radio, a short film maker with his Woody Allen meets The Sopranos short I Am Woody, an online writer with his Comedy Matters project, a reporter for Weekly World News, and the author of Filthy, Funny, and Totally Offensive, a collection of dirty jokes. Not bad for a guy who used to be a dentist who once had to rely on laughing gas to do his job.
Gurian was at the Just For Laughs Montreal International Comedy Festival this year to promote the launch of National Lampoon Radio, a drive-time comedy show that, if successful will probably cause a few traffic accidents as people laugh and lose control of the car. Oh well, it may turn out to be an original and relatively painless solution to traffic congestion.
While at Just For Laughs, Jeffrey Gurian was kind enough to take some time out to sit down for an interview with us. The interview is available in two parts:
Gurian interview part one is about National Lampoon Radio, roasting Jerry Lewis, and his short film I Am Woody.
Gurian interview part two is about his book, Filthy, Funny, and Totally Offensive, his Comedy Matters column, and you can also look at a few of his Weekly World News articles, a bizarre mix between Ripley's Believe It Or Not and what you can see on your usual network television news.
