Montreal, Tuesday, December 19, 2006 - The Comedy Network brings audiences two hilarious 60-minute stand-up specials, starring Just For Laughs alumni, this winter with Jim Gaffigan's Beyond the Pale airing Saturday, January 13 at 10:00 pm and John Pinette's I'm Starving on Saturday, February 17 at 10:00 pm.
Personally, I can't wait. Especially for the John Pinette show. I saw it during Just For Laughs and know I am going to enjoy it on the Comedy Network.
Jim Gaffigan's Beyond the Pale
Under the white guy "everyman" exterior lurks one of the cleverest original comedians of today. An established star in stand-up comedy, who performed at the Festival in 2000 and 2004, and a frequent guest on the late shows of David Letterman and Conan O'Brien, Jim Gaffigan is a noted actor as well, from comedic turns in Super Troopers, That ‘70s Show and Sex and the City to dramatic roles in dozens of films and TV dramas. Gaffigan stars in the new TBS show, My Boys and previously played a TV weatherman who hits the big time in the Letterman produced, CBS sitcom, Welcome to New York. In Beyond the Pale his unique comedy persona takes over - cantankerous but endearing, clean but cutting, with an irrepressible "inside voice" that keeps wickedly popping out - to the delight of the audience in Chicago's historic Vic Theatre. And now you can share their guffaws Saturday, January 13 at 10:00 pm on The Comedy Network.
John Pinette's I'm Starving
With 18 sold out performances in record-breaking time and standing ovations every night, John Pinette's one-man show was the most successful event of its kind in Festival history. He recently sold-out in Toronto and will be taking his show to Ottawa and Halifax this March. His special, I'm Starving, shot at the 2006 Just For Laughs Festival, explores the little things in life that cause him to lose his cherub-like demeanour. Pinette's self-deprecating humour focuses on his hilarious Broadway experience singing and dancing in drag, his battle with weight issues and his aversion to exercise. He is to date THE most requested performer in Just For Laughs history.
