Brendon Burns – Pompously Lectures Americans

Brendon Burns Pompously Lectures Americans is very enjoyable stand-up comedy download or CD.

You do have to be in the mood for it as Burns is a bit of a screaming comic. If you are, you are going to enjoy this performance recorded in Chicago.

Burns takes Americans down a notch or two in this performance but not before he takes Australians down a peg or two to make the former more palatable. He also choses to go after female impersonator Ann Coulter and a couple of easy targets such as American dietary habits and Ahnold (in a bit he acknowledges is a bit hacky).

Things get a bit heavier and funnier on this stand-up comedy CD when Brendon Burns Pompously Lectures Americans on racial slurs. Again, he sets things up by taking down people like him down a bit first.

The most interesting moments on this album are when Brendon Burns talks about going to Karlgoolie, Australia and the origins of Stonehenge.

I  somewhat disagree with Burns on a few points. First, when he says George Carlin would not work in Europe because he states the obvious such as God does not exist and so on. There is much more to Carlin than just the religion rants. Also, yes, Americans as seen on TV are behind the times when it comes to gay rights but Europeans are not as forward thinking as he states.

I do agree however that Lenny Bruce never was all that.
