Gabriel Iglesias is a very likeable, personable, and easy to watch stand-up comic. The second Iglesias stand-up comedy DVD I’m Not Fat, I’m Fluffy, taken from his 2009 Comedy Central special, is trademark Gabriel Iglesias stand-up: it is not profound but it is not dumbed down or fluffy stand-up nor is it especially offensive. What it is is extremely funny, light, good hearted, and often brilliant. There is an adult content warning at the beginning of this stand-up comedy DVD: don’t they all?

I’m Not Fat, I’m Fluffy opens with a couple of stories based on things the El Paso audience knows. Iglesias does explain the set-up for the Comedy Central audience so it’s okay. One of this comic’s fortes is imitation. He cannot resist doing Paul Rodriguez and has a couple of good bits with this one. The next bit, where Iglesias imitates a hotel receptionist is simply brilliant: the comic becomes a big, Black woman right in front of your eyes.

The only really adult bit, sort of, is the puberty routine where Iglesias talks about late night TV back when you could not block certain channels. This is a brilliant bit of stand-up comedy.

Iglesias segues nicely into a Mexican redneck bit with a great imitation of Larry the Cable Guy. The relationship in the texting age is pretty good. This is followed by a couple of good routines on performing for cops and raising his son. His USO tour bit is decent.

Other bits on Gabriel Iglesias I’m Not Fat, I’m Fluffy include a good Dance Dance Revolution  or DDR bit, a very touching Disneyland bit. The show ends strong and with the only real swear word of the evening.

If you like somewhat mature audience, smart, extremely funny, but very laid back stand-up comedy, I’m Not Fat, I’m Fluffy is a very good bet.

Special features on this Gabriel Iglesias DVD include 20 minutes more from the Comedy Central special; Fluffy’s friends hit the stage: Martin Moreno & Noe Gonzales; On stage Q&A with the fans’ Deleted scene: high school reunion.

I am a little annoyed that the wording on the stand-up DVD jacket leads you to believe extra features include 20 additional minutes not aired on Comedy Central AND the other stuff when it is a total of 20 minutes of stuff.
