Red, White, and Brown

Sat. Aug 15th 2009 10 P.M.

Russell Peters’ sold-out Madison Square Garden stand-up comedy special airs Saturday August 15th 2009 at 10 P.M. as part of the Saturday Night Stand-Up series. Peters, whose international comedy career is the envy of many, does a lot of racial diversity material his very diverse audience just swallows up. The Comedy Network follows this with a presentation of Peters’ first special, Outsourced. Russell Peters is an audience friendly comic but this stand-up comedy special does feature adult language and topics.

As a matter of fact, Peters has fun with the man who brought his very young son to his show, daring him to explain some of the adult references. One of the better moments on Russell Peters Red, White, and Brown is the bit on the Arabs and Muslims you see on TV news. He has a valid point but it is shortened in this TV presentation.

This is followed by a solid routine on which people are really cheap with Indians talking the honors. The part about the Louis Vuitton bag runs too long and editing wise could easily have been cut out to make room for other material. The origin of zero is pretty good.

This Russell Peters comedy special is pretty good overall. A noticeable difference from past performances by this stand-up comic is how loose his set is. This is fun when Peters interacts with the audience, less so when he loses track of the routine he started, and even less so when he goes too long on bits like the one on men’s body hair, especially when he goes for a really long dick joke.

Red, White, and Brown closes with a very solid comedy bit on sign language.

This Russell Peters comedy special airs Saturday August 15th at 10 P.M. on The Comedy Network.
