The 11th Annual alfresco filmFesto is a free outdoor film series. This year, Al Fresco, whoever he is, pays tribute to Bill Murray in an outdoor summer film series with the fun title Summer of Murray. It runs Fridays from July 22nd to August 26th on the Halifax Waterfront Boardwalk. Look for the 30-foot inflatable screen.
The films scheduled are Meatballs, 1979 - (Rated PG) on July 22nd, Caddyshack, 1980 - (Rated PG 14) on July 29th, who you gonna cal on August 5th is Ghostbusters, 1984 - (Rated PG) . What About Bob? 1991 - (Rated PG) will be presented August 12th.
The Summer of Murray closes with the classic Groundhog Day (1993 – PG) on August 19th and Rushmore on August 26th.
Since everybody is going to comment on the selections I will add my two cents or the suggested $5.00 donation and question the presence of What About Bob? Perhaps Lost In Translation or even Razor’s Edge would have been a better choice to show Bill Murray’s many talents.
Atlantic Film Festival programming coordinator Mark Flindall is working hard to get Bill Murray to show up for one of the evenings but he is not promising anything.
With or sans Murray, festival director Lia Rinaldo should be commended for the Summer of Murray idea.
Gates for the Summer of Murray open at 8 and shows start at 9 or when feasible.
The suggested donation is 5 dollars. There will be prizes drawn and a grand prize too.
There is no indication as to how wheelchair friendly the venue is.
A suggestion? I would certainly make copies of the Summer of Murray poster available for sale at the screenings. They are especially cool. I really really would like to get one but can’t make it to Halifax Waterfront Boardwald between July 22nd to August 26th.
Maybe begging the, I am sure, very very very nice people at the Atlantic Film Festival, will help? Please?
