Fans of British romantic comedy will be pleased to see Four Weddings and a Funeral on Blu-ray. This is of course a more subdued kind of comedy with the laughs more circumstantial and character based than the kind of broad humor common to American comedies. Four Weddings and a Funeral Blu-ray features are an audio commentary by the filmmakers, deleted scenes, The Weddings Planners documentary, a Making Of, and a feature titled Two Actors and a Director. The film is 1:80:1 widescreen.
Four Weddings and a Funeral is an existentialist comedy about the nature of true love. Hugh Grant plays thirty something bachelor Charles whose friends are invited to a wedding. There he meets a fascinating American (Andie MacDowell), he meets her again at a second wedding where they hook up again, at a friend’s funeral, at a third wedding, and finally at his own wedding.
Each event brings Charles and / or his friends to question themselves on what is a relationship, how do you know you are in love, and so on.
The humor here is subdued but omnipresent. This romantic comedy’s charm is in the story and character development and some of the ongoing gags such as Charles and his sister always being late for weddings and such.
This is a perennial favorite for many
