Bunk is a fake game show hosted by comic Kurt Brauhnoler. His three guests must perform some strange action to get points to win the game. This was a 7-episode production and it airs Friday July 26th at 12:30 a.m on The Comedy Network. This is a rather appropriate time for this not bad, not great, watchable show. It is supposed to be a parody but it has no recognizable targets.
In the first episode the contestants are comedy writer Ethan T. Berlin (Crank Yankers), comic Kumail Nanjiani, and an actor named Ben Garant who does not exist according to IMDB. Other semi-celebs in the series include Dana Gould and Michael Che.
Their first task is “Shame that Puppy”. The second task consists in drawing arms on the Venus de Milo (who is referred to by Garant as a He). The pseudo contestants also have to create a new road sign using magnets, and do a bit of improvisational comedy by topping lies Brauhnoler says.
Comedy Network viewers will recognize the “Contestant Travel Provided By” gag as the reality of Canadian Game Shows of the seventies and eighties.
Bunk is not a bad idea for a show. Unfortunately, the writing is subpar and Brauhnoler is just annoying as a host.
