Roseanne is the blue collar white trash situation comedy that slightly overstayed its welcome on ABC. However, one thing that all viewers looked forward to on Roseanne was the Halloween show. Roseanne Halloween Edition DVD features 7 of the sitcom's Halloween specials from seasons two to eight. You can say what you want about Roseanne Barr Arnold Whatever, she sure knew how to put together a scary show that even The Simpsons' Treehouse of Horror can rarely match.

Roseanne, the actress, the character, and the situation comedy, went all out for Halloween. This is obvious in Boo! Where Dan (the underrated John Goodman) and Roseanne try to outprank each other. Trick Me Up, Trick Me Down has Roseanne scare her new neighbor and then fret all night about her getting even. This is also the show where Dan and Roseanne play Deadgar Bergen and Mortimer Sneed at the lodge.

Halloween IV is Roseanne meets the ghosts of Halloween past, present, and future after she has lost her holiday spirit and is not bad at all. Halloween V is not very gory but Darlene (Sara Gilbert) and David (John Galecki) get her good.

Roseanne was often groundbreaking in how frank it was and how it really reflected the real world. Skeleton In The Closet is a very openly gay themed show that involves a prank from Dan and his brother-in-law.

Of the seven shows on Roseanne Halloween Edition, only two are not up to par with the rest. Trick Or Treat has Roseanne dress up like a guy and go to the Lobo Bar to be with the guys. Her discovery of guy things is kind of lame. The last episode on this DVD, Halloween, The Final Chapter, is also lame although Sarah Chalke (Becky number two) shows up as a trick or treater and some of the people who show up at Roseanne's door do make for a decent running gag. It is also the episode where she gives birth to kid number four, Jerry Garcia Connor and a dud Halloween show.

The split screen commentary bonus feature is a gigantic waste of time. Roseanne is bored to death commenting on the Roseanne Halloween shows and bores the viewer to death while doing it.

Still, any self-respecting situation comedy fan will have Roseanne Halloween Edition DVD in his or her collection.
