South Park Season 17
10 Episodes ? 2 discs
Aired 2013
Comedy Central 2014

The first episode of season 17 of South Park, “Let Go, Let Gov”, alone is worth the price of this two Blu-ray or DVD 10-episode set.  This parable about the government as God in an atheist world has so many superb moments you will want to watch it a few times to make sure you did not miss anything. The rest of the season is solid too and this from only a casual South Park fan.

A close second cannot miss episode is World War Zimmerman which takes on the Trayvon Martin shooting, race relations in the United States, and how easy it is for people to totally go batshit on a rumor. It is one of the two ro three most relevant episodes in the franchise.

The other highlight of South Park 17 is the three connected episodes that have come to be known as the Black Friday Trilogy. You do not have to be a Game of Thrones fan to appreciate it but I am sure I missed a few things. The first episode explains why penises are flaccid in GoT. The snall nod to the original Charlie Brown Christmas is neat too

Also solid is Goth Kids 3: Dawn of the Posers. It features a cameo by Edgar Allan Poe and solves the question as to what is the difference between goths and emos.  I think it misses the mark with the plant aspect of the story and that an Invasion of the Body Snatchers twist would have been cool.

There are a couple of episodes you will skip the second time around. Informative Murder Porn is one of them even if a clip from what goes on at the cable company should be sent to the FCC to explain why the Comcast – Time Warner merger is a horrible idea.

The last episode on South Park Season 17 has Kanye West trying to convince people Kim Kardashian is not a hobbit and the South Park guys falling for the photoshopped pics of the cheerleaders.

Special features for this set are  mini-commentaries by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, some deleted scenes, the a pop-up video like #socialcommentary.
