Aliens in the Attic totally rocks. This is a really fun family comedy DVD. Aside from some cartoonish monsters the little ones might find scary at first, Aliens in the Attic makes for excellent family watching. The DVD bears repeated watching too, something the kids will surely want. I know I am going to watch it again.

A great plus for Aliens in the Attic is it does not fart around. The Pearson families rent a cottage during their vacation. Tom does not get along with sister Bethany or her boyfriend Ricky. His cousin Jake bosses his twin brothers around. Something lands on the roof of the cottage. It turns out the something is alien creatures who look a lot like the evil Gremlins. The aliens want to take over the world. To do so they shoot darts that render the victim a zombie that responds to their commands. The dart does not work on kids so it is up to the kids to save the day and their parents. Their evil plan will work if they can get to the secret something in the basement.

Aliens in the Attic is extremely imaginative when it comes to weapons and counterweapons. The aliens have an antigravity grenade, the kids have a potato gun, a fire extinguisher, and a Gameboy. This makes for some funny as hell and original combat scene with very, very mild violence.

This family comedy has a twist parents will appreciate and kids can learn from.

Robert Hoffman, Ricky, is really good at physical comedy and gets quite a few chances at it to everyone’s enjoyment. Doris Roberts (Everybody Loves Raymond) does a pretty good turn as Nana and her kung fu skills put Jackie Chan to shame.

Adults will enjoy some of the jokes at their expense and a few references to other alien movies such as Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
