Five seasons in and Community is still a fun to watch sitcom. Season five features a couple of major changes. One is Jeff becomes a teacher at Glendale, the other is a spoiler. A minor change that has a very positive effect is the addition of Professor Buzz Hickey played by Jonathan Banks (Mike Ehrmantraut on Breaking Bad). As is tradition, there is a very special episode in season 5. G.I. Jeff is a salute to the low budget animation featured in eighties cartoons like G.I. Joe and Transformers. It even recreates the commercials for the product. This one is a lot of fun.
Also excellent are Geothermal Escapism where the floor of Glendale Community College become lava and the two part closer where Glendale might become a fast food academy. It supposedly features Jared but I did not see him.
I was much less impressed with the episode where Abed and Britta try to reveal spoilers to the other’s favorite program or book.
Features include cast and crew commentary on each episode, outtakes, a behind the scenes, and a segment on the animated episode.
