Aside from an overly long bit about having an amazing ass hole that Jay Chanoine himself admits is a bit much, Chanoinigans by Jay Chanoine is an excellent stand-up comedy album on the always reliable Stand Up! Records!

My favorite moment is the bit on how Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles damaged an entire generation by giving it false hopes as to what jobs they could aspire to. Jay Chanoine’s take on the major plot problem with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers will also make you take another look at your childhood. Fortunately, he says, we now have Paw Patrol.

Jay Chanoine also has a solid look back at a Herbal Essence Shampoo commercial which was the first and unfortunately last to show an orgasm on commercial television. The now seemingly obligatory bit on the effects of Covid 19 on the comic’s life is also present on Chanoinigans: Meh.

Also highly enjoyable are the bits on being followed by an older comic and his “these young comics know nothing” comments, feeling old, drugs, and his mother Karen who’s a Karen.

Stand-up comedy fans will occasionally come across a bit about Nyquil. Chanoine has one on this album and it’s pretty good. He also has the only bit about sandwhich-board I have ever heard.

Jay Chanoine’s Chanoinigans stand-up comedy album ends on a routine about an episode of a true crime show, Florida, bath salts, and why serial killers are tha bomb in that genre.

I’ve become pretty jaded when it comes to comics and their comedy album. Chanoine gives me hope there are still stand-ups out there who do more than mail in it.

Of course, no review of a Stand Up! Records stand-up comedy album would be complete without a mention of the cool album cover art. No other label is so consistent in showcasing original artwork.

This stand-up comedy download and CD is far from being lowbrow. Mellard may not be a philosopher comic but he is…

Dave Losso’s Careless Whisper of a Man is an entertaining stand-up comedy album. Losso does biographical and anecdotal / obversational comedy in a laid-back way. This stand-up does cover lots of ground and tones, the show going from general audience bad job experiences to adult material casual sex encounters near…

The Whim of Tim is the second Tim Harmston stand-up comedy download album we have reviewed. It is a good album and Harmston is a good comic but I am not convinced the set is structured to maximise the material. The material is a bit of a downer and, these…
