Robot Saves City Presents a Comedy Mixtape Album Volume 1
Stand-up Comedy CD
Available at label website
Robot Saves City Presents a Comedy Mixtape Album Volume 1 is a solid stand-up comedy CD showcase of the comics associated with the label. Granted, I am a bit of a sucker for variety packs and buffet style shows. The cool thing about Comedy Mixtape Album Volume 1 is there is not a weak comic in the bunch. The rest is a matter of taste and mood.
The comics features on this CD are James Draper, Zack Smith, James Nghiem, Derek Smith, Leah Kayajanian, Dan Skaggs, Bradchad Porter, Anthony Cavazos, Spencer Hicks, and Kristin Rand. 10 stand-up comics for the price of 1 CD is a pretty good deal.
All of the sets are funny, some more than others. Personal favorites are Leah Kayajanian whose somewhat less adult material makes for a refreshing change.
Anthony Cavazos starts with a pee joke but then has a solid set that is a bit on the short side. Derek Smith also stands out with one of the longer sets on this CD.
The one weak point is the sets sometimes end abruptly as if the comics did not quite time their showcase material correctly.
