Carl Reiner and Mel Brooks are two comics and stand-up comedians who need no introduction. Mel Brooks is well known for funny movies like Young Frankenstein, History of the World Part 1, and is just as well known for great, huge turkeys such as Spaceballs. Carl Reiner, who played the boss on The Dick Van Dyke Show has been the producer or director of many funny movies.
The 2000 Year Old Man is probably their best known funny skit. Unfortunately, if you want to listen to all of the 2000 Year Old Man funny stories, you have to buy four or five different cds because no one has put together these funny bits together. Someone should because the cds themselves are very hit and miss.
2000 Years with Carl Reiner and Mel Brooks has one funny track, that of the 2000 Year Old Man. The other tracks on this comedy CD, Fabiola, The Astronaught, In a Coffee House, The Peruvian, The Psychiatrist are either very dated or not that funny at all: more Spaceballs than Young Frankenstein.
2000 and One Years with Carl Reiner and Mel Brooks has two funny tracks. 2000 and Six Month Man and Two Hour Old Baby are great and are still funny skits thirty years later. The Tax Expert, The New Technique Psychiatric Society, and The Third Best Poet have not withstood the test of time and are not that funny to a modern audience.
2000 and Thirteen Year Old Man and 2000 and Two Year Old Man also have the same problem as the other Carl Reiner and Mel Brooks cds. One funny track and a lot of filler that has not done well over the years.
Perhaps the solution, if you really want the funny stories and really funny stand-up Carl Reiner and Mel Brooks have made over the years –you absolutely have to skip the 2000 Year Old Man in the Year 2000 it is basically a made for a quick buck coaster-is get one of those places that allows you to legally download comedy and download only the funny stories you want and skip the rest.
