Bubba the Redneck Werewolf
Fred Lass, Malone Thomas
Based on the Mitch Hyman Graphic Novels
MVD Entertainment 2016
Bubba the Redneck Werewolf is a hoooooooootttttt! I haven’t had this much consistent fun watching a comedy DVD in a long time. This funny as hell comedy proves beyond a doubt it is possible to make a low budget movie and still have great acting, solid writing, and an attention to detail that allows for some great background gags such as the Cownado movie poster. B-movies usually appeal to a particular crowd but even those who like foreign films in a language that requires subtitles will have to admit this is one hell of a good movie. In fact, there are more good jokes and funny bits than the 80 minutes of this great comedy. stream at Amazon: Bubba The Redneck Werewolf
Bubba is a good ol’ boy living in Broken Taint, Cracker County. He works the night shift at the Barkham Asylum for dogs and hangs around the local bar. He pines for high school sweetheart Bobbie Jo but she finds he is no longer man enough for her. This leads him to sign a contract with the devil to become the man Bobbie Jo wants but Bubba does not read the small print so he is now a werewolf.
The problem is other denizens of Broken Taint also signed a contract with the devil and are now hiding out in the local bar. To save the bar and rescue the other people who did not read the contract and have to live with the consequences, Bubba the Redneck Werewolf must find the devil and defeat him.
This involves battling zombies for a few minutes until somebody clues in to what the so-called zombies are really, a great Who’s on First style scene, and other fun stuff.
This movie is based on a comic book, oops, graphic novel series by Mitch Hyman (who is very good as the devil in this movie) so there are a couple of gags only fans of the comic books will appreciate. 99% of the other jokes work and everybody can get a good laugh.
Keep your finger near the pause button so you can enjoy all the sight gags such as Broken Taint Dairy Farm and Missing Persons Agency “We Put ‘Em Right on the Carton”.
Special Features for Bubba the Redneck Werewolf comedy DVD include a very short blooper reel, deleted scenes, a Making of, and other stuff.
