The Mighty Boosh certainly is an acquired taste. This very weird BBC situation comedy airs on the Adult Swim portion of the Cartoon Network. This is certainly not your standard British comedy fare by far, by very far. Proof is in The Mighty Boosh Season 2 two DVD set which features all 6 episodes.

Season 2 of The Mighty Boosh is certainly better (and shorter) than the first season. The characters are no longer confined to the low budget set of the low budget zoo. Howard Moon (Julian Barratt) and fashion plate Vince Noir (Noel Fielding) now live in the same apartment with shaman Naboo and his pet gorilla Bollo. Most of the episodes feature the foursome driving somewhere and getting into some comic trouble of some sort.

It is obvious the show had a bigger budget for its second season. The sets are much more interesting and colourful but the show’s creators decided to keep it obvious these sets in a studio. Other production values are a few notches above what was in season one of The Mighty Boosh. The acting however is still generally student film quality, especially when Barratt and Fielding play other characters).

The writing in season 2 of this British situation comedy is more imaginative than in the past. Episodes include renting a cabin in the woods on yeti mating night, Howard and Vince forming a band and looking for a new sound and finding a couple of bad music videos while they are at it, Vince going Goth to get lucky and summoning an evil nana and a bad episode while at it.

The ‘journey in time and space” promised in The Mighty Boosh’s opening credits come true in the Fountain of Youth episode (DVD 1). It is also one of the weirdest episodes of this very weird BBC situation comedy.

Episode 5, The Legend of Old Gregg, repeats a couple of jokes from the first episode. The last episode where Vince and Howard are stranded on a deserted island features the best joke of the series.

DVD 2 of The Mighty Boosh Season 2 has all the special features. These include the pilot episode, publicity footage, a photo gallery, a making of, outtakes, deleted scenes, Boosh music, and Sweet, a ten-minute short with Fielding and Barratt.
