Modern Family The Complete Second Season won its second consecutive Best Situation Comedy and four other Emmy Awards in 2011. It is easy to see why. The show is original, the characters and stories interesting, the timing is superb, and there is often that little extra moment in a scene that pays off. This sitcom DVD or Blu-ray set features 24 episodes on 3 discs.

The show tells the comic adventures of 3 American families. Jay Pritchett (Ed O’Neill) is on his second family with wife Gloria and son Manny. Mitchell, Jay’s son is life partners with Cameron and they adopted Lily (“Leave it to us gays to raise the only underachieving Asian in America.”. Jay’s daughter Claire is married to Phil and they have three children.

Modern Family is a situation comedy with a bit of a reality TV show feel. The characters talk to the camera as if they were in a booth on a reality show. It adds to the show.

Not only is this a funny sitcom, it is also well written. The second episode in Modern Family The Complete Second Season is about how Mitchell is afraid of public displays of affection but also about daughter Alex never having kissed a boy and Jay’s inability to show affection.

Especially good episodes for Modern Family The Complete Second Season include the one where the family station wagon brings back memories, the Halloween show and its Spiderman scene,

Is it just me but why has the sitcom Christmas episode gone the way of the dodo bird?

As mentioned in our review for season one of this sitcom DVD set, a booklet with a list of episodes and such would be appreciated. It’s not like it is going to ruin the studio. The DVD and Blu-ray do offer a synopsis of each episode through the on screen menu.
