Season 7 is when Two and a Half Men jumps the shark. Most of the season is focused on whether Charlie will marry or not. This will he or won’t he story line takes a lot of energy and originality away from the show. Most of the 2 episodes on this 3 DVD sitcom set are decent but viewers have come to expect this situation comedy to be more than simply decent. Two and a Half Men Season 7 special features are a short gag reel and a featurette on the reunion of Charlie’s exes.
The comic energy in Two and a Half came from the opposite characters of Charlie and his brother Allan. Allan’s son Jake was also very good for laughs. Unfortunately the estrogen level is so high season 7 that the Charlie – Allan battles lose a lot of their sting. Jake is also made into just a background character in too many episodes.
Not that there are not very good episodes in Season Seven of this sitcom. The one where Evelyn hires Allan as an assistant is very good. So is the DVD 1 episode which is all interior monologue from Allan.
Also excellent are the Keith Moon is Now Vomiting in His Grave episode where Jake gets drunk, Allan lucky, and Charlie writes a Super Dad jingle and the Magoo episode (both DVD 4) where both Allan and Charlie get lucky. The episode with Charlie’s ex-girlfriends is not as funny as you expect but still decent; the secondary story with the clock is a waste.
The cliffhanger at the end of season 7 is original.
