Two and a Half Men The Complete Fifth Season

Warner Home Video 2009

Two and a Half Men marks its 100th episode in The Complete Season Five DVD set. This is also the season DVD with the CSI writers crossover. This is one of very, very few situation situation comedy shows when men are not useless dolts and that does not pander to the lowest common denominator. It is also the only sitcom worth watching on a regular basis these days. The 19 episodes on this 3 DVD set are excellent.

An advantage Two and a Half Men has over other sitcoms is one of the main characters, Jake, is still growing and becoming more interesting. This means subject matters for the show can also mature, relatively speaking of course. The Complete Fifth Season begins with Jake and his first day in junior high. Let’s just say Alan’s fears and stories influence his son. Look for Janeane Garofalo in episode 2. The banter between Charlie and Alan is especially witty in episode 3 with some really good lines.

The best episode on DVD 1 is Help Daddy Find His Toenail where Charlie Sheen plays a stoned Charlie.Season 5 of this situation comedy has Charlie dating someone for more than a couple of episodes, Allan also in a relationship, and Jake hitting puberty with the confidence his uncle has. Rose also shows up again, or does she?

Season 5 DVD 2 opens with the great episode where Charlie becomes a hit with the kiddies and milf crowd with his Charlie Waffles character. There is absolutely funny innuendo banter in episode 13 The Soil is Moist (look for Ryan Styles of Whose Line). Jake and Charlie also go on a double date.

The highlight of Two and a Half Men The Complete Fifth Season is the crossover with CSI writers on this situation comedy ‘s DVD 3. Special features here include Dying is Easy, Comedy is Hard, a story of the idea, and the CSI Episode written by the 2 ½ Men writers. If you miss the references to Roseanne Barr and Tom Arnold, you are not paying attention.

After five seasons, this situation comedy still has it.Other sitcom DVD sets you might enjoy
