Grown Ups
Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Kevin James
Directed by Dennis Dugan
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment 2010
Grown Ups is a movie with lots of comedy stars and no comedy. To add to the viewer’s challenge the movie also features David Spade and Rob Schneider. Grown Ups is a series of occasionally comic moments loosely connected by a story that could have made a good movie but doesn’t.
Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Kevin James, and the two non-comics are 5 grade school friends who get together some thirty years later when their basketball coach dies. They and their wives and kids spend the weekend together. Each has life issues and everybody including most of the kids is pretty much dysfunctional.
Part of the movie is about the kids letting go of modern technology and enjoying childhood like in the good old days by playing outside or with paper cup phones.
Of course everybody gets to fess up at some point in time and of course they all feel better for it. Just to make sure the audience gets that one of the characters points it out.
The movie fills some time with a trip to the water part.
Special features on Grown Ups include a gag reel, Laughing Is Contagious, and The Cast of.
